Mt Forest Pictures shows a picture from their trip to Leavenworth, Washington.
Ever been to Leavenworth? As in Leavenworth, Washington? Not as in Leavenworth the prison (although if you’ve been there, I’d like to hear about that, too). Anyway, this Leavenworth is one of those Dutch Villages. You know, like how Solvang is a Dutch Village.
Leavenworth WA is a GERMAN Village..as in Bavarian!!!! No Dutch about it!!! I live there!!!
I think I was totally kidding about it being a Dutch village. Because Solvang is also NOT a Dutch village. The whole thing was written tongue in cheek. I’ve been to Leavenworth. Many many (like 30) years ago. Anyway, I wrote this post a couple of years ago, so forgive me if my memory isn’t serving me too well about it. Lucky you, living in so cute a town!
That is one scary looking goat!!
I think he would need more than panties to make him look better… like a haircut, and clothing, and a bag over his head!
Oh yes I’ve been to Leavenworth many times and it is German overload.
Leavenworth is one of our favorite places. It’s actually German themed, not Dutch. We were just there last weekend. The weather was beautiful and we got some wonderful fall shots. And the gingerbread house is fantastic. I wouldn’t classify it as a bad theme park though. The theme was started when the town was dying out and they needed to do something to save it.
I have been to and through Leavenworth many times but I had no idea they had goats! Huh.
Great place to go at Christmas, provided there’s not so much snow you can’t get there!
Now THAT’s a beautiful goat!
Yeah, I’m gonna have to with Leavenworth prison on this one. 🙂
SO COOL!
That’s just spooky.
So they hold you down and make you guzzle wine? Isn’t one way you end up in Leavenworth? and if it’s flat wouldn’t it be Unleavenworth?
Been there many times and I love it. I’m like 3/4 German though so I feel like I’m in the Mother Land when I’m there. Plus I love sausage, cheese, and the polka…but I’m crazy like that.
Never saw any goats there, but I’ll keep my eyes peeled next time.
He looks like he just got caught doing something naughty!!
The question isn’t whether you’ve been to Leavenworth. The question is why would you even go to Leavenworth??
And Solvang rocks, at least there’s wine !!
I have been to Leavenworth dozens of times (my mother-in-law lived there for a time). Awful place. Bavarian oooompa music piped all over town by an overzealous chamber-of-commerce.The whole town is like a bad theme park with everyone wearing liederhosen (shudder).
Beautiful country though. I don’t recall ever seeing any goats of note.
Yep, I thought this goat in dreadlocks was in total confinement naaaaayin’ the prison blues. Freeeeedom!
Have a great day!!!
Don’t know about Leavenworth. . . but I’m dying to know. . .
Are there really men who talk to goats?
I totally thought the goat was in prison. It got me to wondering what a goat could do to be incarcerated. Ba-a-a-d goat.
Hmm. I have been to Leavenworth the prison… long story. Not what you think. Scary looking place.
Remember when we went to Leavenworth? I want to say we were around 12 (me) or 14 (you), around that age. I remember fishing … and a long drive (to and from) … and I remember a person who shall remain nameless (of the male persuasion) who put Vaseline on the toilet seat (because he got in there first) on which I sat … which lead to the idea of decorating their hotel suite once they were married in Tahoe several years ago (like 20 years) … remember?? Women donât forget things like that. I wonder if he ever figured it out??
PS … looks like the goat is in prison at Leavenworth.
I love Leavenworth!
Yes, we used to go to Leavenworth a lot when I was a teenager. They have a big tree-lighting festival every weekend during December and a great cross-country ski course. I think my favorite shop there is the gingerbread place…you can get gingerbread people dressed in just about any frosting “outfit”!
I think that’s a hippy goat. A rasta-goat if you will.
Hee, hee, I sometimes so amuse myself.
Smiles,
Lisa
Nope Nanny G, I’ve never been to either Leavenworth.
Washington seems like a strong possibility because of the lovely brochure linked to your post, but the prison, not so much! Although if I ever HAD to pay a debt to society, a visit to Solvang would be mandatory to inebriate myself first.
Don’t ya think?
Now that’s baaaaaaddddd. [ha ha] 🙂
I’m thinking that goatie needs a brushing. Cool horns though….
Never got to either Leavenworth.
