Goat Thing of the Day: Thunderboxes

You know, for the life of me, I can’t figure out why an outhouse would be called a Thunderbox, but here you go.

Somebody said seeing this one might give me a clue.

flames painted on outhouse

Nope. Still don’t get it.

FYI: These outhouses were part of a traveling art project earlier this year called Thunderbox Road

You really are developing a fine collection of goat pics… Perhaps you should compile a coffeetable book. :)
You could include recipes including feta cheese opposite each spread.

Hey, if I had to go in a thunderbox, that’s the one I’d want to go in. Seriously, it’s really cool. Love all the goat things people send you.

From what I can find Thunderbox is an old 17th century slang word for toilet
maybe because of the racket being made in there?
hey, there was no tv or internet
what the hell else did they have to do back then?
    Peace ~ Rene

None of the thunderboxes I ever used looked anything like those. Although I doubt looking cool helps with the smell…you know, from the thunder.

Mine wouldn’t be called a thunderbox, more like:
“OH MY GOD..WHAT DID YOU DO IN HERE?! DID YOU EVEN BOTHER TO SPRAY?!?!”
A little long, but pretty accurate.

Better a thunderbox covered in flames than one of those that’s transparent from the inside. You can see out but they can’t see in. shivers
