Goat Thing of the Day: Myrtle and Mathilda (and a giveaway)

Meet Myrtle and Mathilda:

Myrtle (Alpine Pygmy) and Matilda (Angora)

Myrtle is the Pygmy/Alpine in front, while Matilda is the Angoran on top of the sculpture.

Mathilda is a bit of a ham.

Mathilda, the Angora goat

Myrtle and Mathilda belong to Cid of Foggy Gardens, and apparently spend a great deal of their time noshing on the compost pile - their motto: “Let no banana peels go un-nibbled”.

Thank you, Cid!

OH yeah, see this is why I have yet to buy a 2011 calendar ;)
I love the tiny huts the goats are on. They look like they are made for tiny giraffes.

  • Maelstrom

I still keep recalling those goats on the side of the dam. Crazy assed goats.

I was just told by my son, someone has some goats next door to his best friend. We live in the middle of town. What a shame, that someone could be that foolish. I would be the first one to have them if they were legal here. I would love the calender.

US residents only?! But…but…I’m CANADIAN. Waaaahhhhhh! It’s not fair, everybody else in the world thinks I’m American ’cause I live in Canada!! We’re like the bigger, colder Puerto Rico. Doesn’t that count? *sniff*

Did you happen to watch The Amazing Race last Sunday? The teams were on a mountain in Oman and while two of the contestants were trying to figure out the clue, a goat was eating the paper. Naturally, I thought of you.

I think we need a video of Matilda getting on the statue. How’d she do that?!?!?

Since I am already a proud owner of your calendar, don’t include me in the giveaway- but I will blog about it.

And in case anyone wants to know THE CALENDAR IS FABULOUS.

Actually, here’s the deal Nicky. Mailing something to Canada costs more than the frickin calendar. So, if you have a nearby US address you can have the calendar sent to for you, then you are are more than WELCOME to enter. Just let me know.

Ha! That’s awesome. I’m sorry I missed that.

Who wouldn’t want a Nanny Goat calender? Ever since I’ve started reading your blog I see goat stuff everywhere - is there a goat obsession phenomenon going on. God, now I’m going to be singing waltzing Matilda all day, thanks.

I discovered Nanny Goats in Panties a few weeks ago and love it! I have goats, I’ve written books about goats, and my buck goat (Martok) blogs at the Hobby Farms magazine Web site.

In fact, I’ve just come in from trimming Martok’s hooves and stopped on my way to the shower to check my mail and read Nanny Goats in Panties. That says a lot because if you know buck goats, you know they pee all over whomever is silly enough to come into their pens during rut and trim their feet (YUK!). It’s how boy goats say, “I love you.” I could do with a little less goatly love at the moment.

So, as a dedicated (really, REALLY dedicated) goat lover I would dearly love to win my very own Nanny Goats in Panties calender. I’ll even show it to Martok. And I promise not to let him pee on it. Really.

Hi Sue! What a really sweet thing to say! Thank you so much and I’m glad you enjoy NGIP! Now, I’m curious how Martok got his name - I’ve never heard it before. It almost sounds like a character from Star Trek or something. And if you don’t happen to win a calendar this time, I’m hoping to have another drawing or two.

  • http://roses2rainbows.blogspot.com Linda R.

I’ve really been out of touch this last week. All your goats pics are great, so I’d love a shot a cute goat calendar. :)

  • ozarkgoattrek

Martok is a Klingon general; he was a character on Star Trek; Deep Space Nine. My Martok’s registered Nubian name is Ozark Jewels General Martok. Besides being a long-time Trek fan, I think Roman-nosed breeds like Boers and Nubians have noble Klingon profiles.

My younger buck is Ozark Jewels General Kerla (his name is from the Trek movie, Star Trek; the Undiscovered Country) and I have other Trek-named goats, namely K’ehleyr, Kes, Ezri, Jadzia, Curzon, Emony, Kira, and Drex (some are Klingon names, some aren’t).

I must go through my goat pictures and submit something for Goat Thing of the Day. :o )

    Sue

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

How funny is THAT! Martok really was a Klingon? HA!

(I guess I didn’t pay attention very well the first time because I’m only just now seeing the “trek” in your name, Ozarkgoattrek. Or else I DID see it, but didn’t realize I saw it and it sort of snuck in and I didn’t pick up on it and here I thought I was some genius coming up with the trek idea.

Anyway, I would love for you to submit something for Goat Thing of the Day. Please do!
