Test Post

This is a test of the Emergency Blogcasting System. This is only a test. NGIP has a new domain host and blogging platform and wants to make sure that this post goes through OK before delivering precious literary gold only to have it go out to blogging purgatory.

And now, a picture of a safety pin.

Thank you for your patience during this trying time.

  • Margaret - can you check your Kindle feed? I just turned on my wireless for the first time in a while thinking it would update NGIP on my Kindle, but the last update it showed was for April 19th. So I'm wondering if your move to wordpress upset the Kindle gods or something - Adrian
  • Yo Adrian!

The feed on my Kindle works OK so the feed itself seems to be working. But
I've heard of this problem before when someone first began to subscribe to
NGIP and it got sort of "stuck".

    Try this:

    *Step-by-Step: Kindle System Restart*

    1. Make sure your Kindle is on.*
    2. Disconnect the Kindle from the USB or Power Adapter cable.
    3. Press the Home button on the right edge of the Kindle.
    4. From the Home screen, press the Menu button on the right edge of the
    Kindle.
    5. Select "Settings" from the Home Menu.
    6. From the Settings page, press the Menu button again.
    7. Select "Restart" from the Setting Menu.
    8. Wait a couple of minutes for your Kindle to Restart, then give your
Kindle another few minutes to update files, blog posts, etc.

Please let me know if this works.
  • Boy, I would hate to see what would fill up a diaper that big? Holy shit!
  • Reminds me of the pins my mother had to use for me...
  • Ha! Was that back when you were knee-high to a redwood?
  • It's working!

Wait. IIve never seen such a gigantic safety pin! Where was that taken?
  • Meleah - It's at the De Young Museum in San Francisco (until someone else
    corrects me, anyway).
  • Sweet!
  • Great test post. Like JD said, better than many "real" posts. Love the safety pin! Paul Bunyan's kid? Whatever, great picture. Congratulations on the switch. Everything seems A-OK.

Oh, and it didn't have to enter my info either. Yay!
  • if i wasn't such a lazy ass i would send you pictures of the giant things i've taken pictures of lately. and not *those* giant things, sicko.
  • Your test posts are better than most people's actual, live posts.

Maybe it's the giant safety pin, but I will defend the above opinion to the death.
  • If it wasn't a test, would I have to hide under my kitchen table? Please don't say yes. My kids just finished breakfast and it's a warzone under there.
  • We had all sorts of issues upon relaunching our site. Good luck. It's a "pin in the ass."

    Sorry that was bad.
  • There's something wrong with your new blogging platform. It makes safety pins look inordinately huge.

P.S. Everything else seems to be working. I didn't even have to fill in my info in the Disqus fields. It remembered!
  • No doubt to hold up this baby's diaper http://img1.fantasticfiction.co.uk/images/c0/c2...
  • LOL! Yes, exactly!
  • Us SF women know what to do with a big safety pin!
  • The good news with your test, btw, is that not only did it work but I also got to mess around with my DISQUS profile. So thanks for that! lol!
  • I would hate to be the one that had to change THAT diaper. Ew.
  • That is one big ass pin. I wonder if it is upside down because they were afraid someone would impale themself on it? We have a big spoon with a cherry in it at one of our parks.
  • Yeah, I guess it would be a bit of an incident if the pin fell over and impaled somebody. This is at the De Young Museum in San Francisco.
